Training and Education of Volunteers in the Home Hospice "Cesta domů" - the Homecoming

The issue of death and dying affects everyone, it is not easy and yet a natural part of everyone's life. Hospice care offers help and support a dying man and his close on the last trip "home". This thesis describes the possibilities of a preparatory course for the volunteers who play an irreplaceable role in hospice care. The practical part describes the specific example from the conditions of the Czech home hospice - The Home Coming, which is being commented on the ground of literature and my personal experience. The outcome of the research is the feedback for the management of the home hospice - The Home Coming, including recommendations for changes of the preparatory course.
The Hospice Volunteer - the Specifics of Recruitment and Education

The thesis is describing the situation with volunteering programs at hospices. It is analyzing the process of recruitment, professional grow and managing volunteers directly involved with hospice clients. The document is summing up real life application of volunteers work at hospice, pointing out key aspects of the work at the specific environment of provided services of hospice. All texts are based on published professional literature and data provided by qualitative research providing most point of views of participating personal - volunteers and coordinators. In the first part you will find specifications of the volunteer hiring and education from organization point of view here represented by the coordinators. The second part describes the qualitative data research, providing volunteer's point of view on the same process. The research itself is targeting to provide the key moments of the volunteer's work at hospice organizations. It provides over all view of the main motivators of the work and on the other hand describes death with understanding and placing it as part of human life while showing its place in the society. Education of volunteers in Pionýr

This work is focused on the education of volunteers in Pionýr, which is organized within this association. The aim is to find out what the motivation of volunteers to take part in the education courses and what is the benefit of the courses for their work with children as well as for their personal development. In case someone does not participate in the course, there are reasons for not taking part in the course. The data are obtained through questionnaires that were distributed among volunteers registered within the Pionýr. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to improve the quality of education courses, focus on specific topics and make courses more attractive.

Management of Volunteerism in Germany

This article focuses on volunteerism in the social work field. Volunteerism phenomenon is booming in the Czech Republic; however, due to our historical development it lags behind Western countries. For this reason, this article conveys the management of volunteerism in Germany where it is directly linked to organization's management principles. I have broken down this topic into recruitment and selection of volunteers, their training, evaluation and rewards for their activities and into the coordination of volunteer activities. The aim of this study is based on the German system that can be passed on to the Czech setting in form of recommendations to individual areas of volunteerism management including proposals for more effective supervision of volunteers for Czech volunteer centers/organizations. The theoretical element of this manuscript is extracted from scholarly journals and articles including information from Czech and foreign literature concerning volunteerism circumstances in the Czech Republic and Germany. The practical element was accomplished in Freiwilligen-Zentrum Aachen and in Freiwilligenagentur Impuls Dusseldorf.
